Alexander d'Hooghe on Cathedral Thinking and Climate Solutions

LTC23 021 MVM 230727170143

In this keynote from the Love Tomorrow Conference 2023, ORG's Alexander D'Hooghe delves into the pressing challenges our planet faces, particularly the impending bankruptcy of planetary systems.

He argues that today’s environmental and societal challenges demand a new form of collective intelligence. Through what he calls “cathedral thinking,” designers, scientists, policymakers, and citizens work together to address problems whose scale exceeds any single discipline or individual.

From offshore energy systems in the North Sea to the transformation of Antwerp’s infrastructure and national development strategies in Malawi, these projects demonstrate how collaboration can generate ambitious and lasting solutions. Ultimately, D’Hooghe calls for a shared commitment to building resilient futures through design, dialogue, and collective action.
